I’ve been working on my family history off and on for about 15 years. I’m hoping some day my kids will want to know about their ancestors and will appreciate the photographs, maps, family lore, and family trees. My mother was a Southerner, and Southerners by nature are storytellers. To quote Faulkner, for them, the past isn’t even the past. My dad’s parents up in Michigan didn’t talk much about the past. When Grandpa Pratt died, he left a shoebox of photos of which only a few people could be positively identified. At any rate, my tree is up on Ancestry now where it should live for as long as the cloud holds up. I’ve decided to use a portion of this blog to house research that presently doesn’t fit very well on Ancestry.
